Both Tottenham and Liverpool are interested in the idea of making wholesale changes in the January window and this deal could be in the cards. But would Tottenham supporters be content with this wantaway Liverpool winger plus cash?
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is set to tempt Spurs with a cash-plus-player deal for Aaron Lennon.
Benitez will offer Jermaine Pennant plus £7million for Lennon, who has apparently attracted interest from Real Madrid in recent weeks following his startling form under new boss Harry Redknapp.
Redknapp is a long-term admirer of former Arsenal winger Pennant, and tried to snare the 25-year-old in the summer while manager of Portsmouth. (Daily Mail)
Pennant has been a thorn in Rafa’s side for the better part of this season, so it’s no shock to hear his name being thrown around. The winger is most is the likeliest pick to move away from the club in the transfer window; however, it remains to be seen if anyone will take a risk on him considering he hasn’t played competitive football in some time.
Lennon on the other hand has been nothing short of superb since Harry Redknapp came to the club. His pace and effort has greatly improved, as well as his attitude on the pitch. But could a former target of Redknapp’s plus cash be enough to send Lennon north? Only Harry knows the answer to that question.
What do Liverpool and Tottenham supporters think about the deal? Would you be content with Pennant and Lennon swapping places in January?
