Two more players linked with a move to the table toppers, but are either likely to happen?
In other brief news Hull City‘s Michael Turner, who has become this January’s most unlikely transfer target (and, at £10m, quite an expensive one at that) has done his best to end speculation he is on his way out of the KC Stadium.
With Manchester City (again) and Liverpool both rumoured to be interested in the centre-back’s services, he has been quick to state where his loyalties lie, even though a new contract with the club is yet to be signed. (eurosport)
The England international has recaptured his best form for Tottenham Hotspur this season, with Harry Redknapp’s arrival getting the best out of the former Leeds United youngster.
The Daily Mirror claim the Reds are looking to land Lennon in a deal involving Jermaine Pennant going to White Hart Lane, but other sources suggest a straight cash deal could be on the cards.
Rafael Benitez is said to be willing to part with £10million for the Spurs winger, but Harry Redknapp is unlikely to agree to a sale whilst his side remain too close to the relegation zone for comfort. (fansfc.com)
These two targets have both been in great form of late but would be surprised if either were the subject of a move to Anfield in the near future. Michael Turner may have performed manfully at the heart of the Tigers defence but I would doubt he has the ability to make the step up to a side like Liverpool so swiftly and apart from anything else he seems deeply committed the cause at Hull. Aaron Lennon has been in fine form of late and after a long period of poor form under Ramos the winger seems likely to be brought back into the England fold so will surely not be thinking of leaving the resurgent Spurs outfit anytime soon. Rafa could probably do with a centre back in January, but I think he is more likely to opt for a player for cover rather than someone just making his way in the Premier League. He may well look abroad to fill that role and someone like Valencia’s Raúl Albiol may be on the cards. Do Liverpool fans think either of the targets mentioned by these sources could make the move to the Merseyside oufit?
