The Russian forward was in London with his agent last week, visiting Spurs’ Chigwell training ground on Tuesday and Arsenal’s base in London Colney on Wednesday.
Arsene Wenger is thought to have the finances ready to sign an experienced striker from abroad in a deal worth £20 million.
A proposed move to Tottenham collapsed in the summer because Arshavin’s club, Zenit St Petersburg, demanded £23 million for the 27-year-old, and Spurs were not prepared to match that figure. Zenit have since been eliminated from the Champions League and are now very keen to sell.
The Russians spent £24 million on Portuguese playmaker Danny in August and coach Dick Advocaat has struggled to fit them both into the same team. The Dutchman is happy for the player to leave, much to Arshavin’s delight.

Well this guy seems to have been on the back pages of the tabloids for donkeys but could he really be making a move to the Premier League? News that Arshavin has been seen at various training grounds also occurred in the summer but failed to result in a move to Spurs but maybe now a move could be on the cards? Spurs are of course a different beast to the one that sat rooted to the bottom of the table under Ramos but the Zenit man may need some persuading that the north London club has the ability to push on towards a top six slot as clearly the Russian expects European action of some sort wherever he heads. He would be a dream signing for someone and his days at the St Petersburg outfit are numbered and now it’s a case of who offers the best deal to his club and can give the player the level of football (and money) he feels he deserves. Do Tottenham fans think they could finally sign the forward?
