According to this source Wenger has made a move for one hell of a talented attacker.
Cesc Fabregas fears he could be out for three months – and that has prompted Arsenal to make a dramatic move to sign Andrei Arshavin.
Gunners captain Fabregas expects to learn today if he will need surgery on his injured knee.
But the Spain midfielder is already concerned that the ligament damage is worse than first diagnosed.
And last night Zenit St Petersburg official Alexei Petrov claimed Arsenal have made a move for their £20million-rated Russian playmaker Arshavin.
Petrov said: “We have given Andrei permission to negotiate.” Arsene Wenger has been reluctant to spend big in the transfer market.
But the Arsenal manager knows that a long lay-off for 21-year-old Fabregas could wreck their chances of getting into next season’s Champions League.
The young star had a scan yesterday following Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool, but his knee was too inflamed for the damage to be fully assessed. (Daily Mirror)
The injury to Cesc is very bad news indeed and this source seems to suggest that this has spurred the club into action and if indeed as is stated by The Mirror, the club have made a bid for Andrei Arshavin then that can only be a good thing. The Russian would be a great addition regardless of the unfortunate loss of Arsenal’s top player and I am sure Arsene can indeed persuade the Zenit man that a move to the Emirates would be an intelligent one. After all the north London club has the basis of a truly wonderful squad who is sure to be challenging for trophies for a few years to come. Do Gunners fans think that this source is correct and that the club have indeed put a bid in for AA?
