This long serving Wenger buy has been earmarked by this source as a potential Mark Hughes signing.
KOLO TOURE is a £10million target for Manchester City.
Boss Mark Hughes has made the Arsenal defender his top priority in January’s transfer window.
A City source said: “Kolo has been completely marginalised by Arsene Wenger this season.
“Mark has made no secret he rates Kolo very highly and strengthening his defence is his main priority.
“City have been linked with a number of players but Kolo is Mark’s prime target and he hopes a deal can be done quickly if the clubs agree a fee.”
Ivory Coast international Toure, 27, has fallen out of favour at the Emirates and Sparky plans to test the Gunners’ resolve with a bid next month.
Toure has played 300 games for Arsenal and is the sole survivor from the 2004 “Invincibles” side.
Yet he seems to have been made the fall guy for his side’s stuttering season and is now behind William Gallas, Mikael Silvestre and Johan Djourou in the pecking order.
Toure has even been forced into playing out of position on the flanks and his Gunners future looks in serious doubt. (The Sun)
Kolo Toure is a fantastic player who has been the most consistent performer for the Gunners in recent seasons but he has been finding it hard to make an impact as a regular starter and has had some problems with persistent niggling injuries but I don’t see Wenger letting the solid defender leave. He has been an excellent buy for the club and has more than repaid the astoundingly cheap sum to sign him (just £150k) and similarly I don’t see the Ivorian seeking a move away from the north London club. Do Gunners fans think that Kolo is set to leave the club or are Man City wasting their time?
