This source suggests that Arsene has a lengthy wish-list for the coming transfer window!
Scrooge Arsene Wenger last night admitted he may be forced to spend big this Christmas after Cesc Fabregas was ruled out for the season.
The Arsenal manager’s worst fears were realised when his captain was told he would be sidelined for four months.
Wenger has drawn up a hitlist featuring £20million-rated Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Andrei Arshavin, West Ham’s Mark Noble, Manchester City‘s £10m out-of-favour Michael Johnson, Barcelona’s £8m defender Yaya Toure and Villarreal veteran Marcos Senna. (Daily Mirror)
This source believes that Arsene is well and truly ready to splash the cash and has a decent list of players to pick from. Andrei Arshavin will definitely leave Zenit in the coming weeks and the question is where will he go? It seems Barcelona and Arsenal could be the main bidders for the Russian. Marcos Senna may be too long in the tooth to be a Wenger target at 32 but then the club did bring in Silvestre and may feel another injection of experience is needed at the club. Even before Michael Johnson was hit by a groin injury he wasn’t apparently a part of Mark Hughes’s immediate first team plans so he could be on his way but surely not until he is back to full fitness. Mark Noble is just one of many West Ham men linked with a move from the financially stricken club but it’s Yaya Toure that seems the most likely player that the Gunners turn to and I think it is very possible he could join his brother at the club in January. Who out of these targets do Arsenal fans think the club will actually sign?
