Two more players linked with a move to join Benitez’s title push.
The Brazilian playmaker has fallen out of favour at Manchester City this season under Mark Hughes, who could be tempted to cash in on the player when the transfer window reopens.
The former Shakhtar Donetsk ace has already been linked with loan moves to Italian giants Inter Milan and Lazio, but there have been suggestions of an offer coming in from Anfield boss Rafael Benitez.
The Reds are three points clear in the race for the Premier League and have a great chance of ending their 18-year wait for the title, and the Spaniard could well table an offer of £6million for Elano.
Shakhtar Donetsk and international Croatian Dario Srna has emerged as the latest target Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is trying to sign in January.
The 26 year old right back has been part of the Croatian squad that participated in the Euro 2008 finals after having qualified from the group from which England were knocked out.
Although basically a defender, Srna has worked his way to be top scorer of the current Croatian team and 2nd top of all time, with 17 international goals to his name in 62 international caps.
The player’s agent, Damir Stimac, says that there is a “concrete possibility” his client will be joining the Merseysiders. (footylatest.com)
Table topping Liverpool clearly don’t need a raft of new signings but that doesn’t stop the rumour mill spewing out a plethora of potential purchases. These two are quite interesting though and by no means totally unbelievable. Elano would be a clever acquisition by Rafa if indeed the source is accurate. The Brazilian was frozen out of the first team at Eastlands earlier this season but came back for the past two games and looked sharp. If he could be persuaded to leave Man City the £6m valuation may not be enough but the intelligent adaptable midfielder is the kind of player who could offer a lot to the Anfield outfit. Srna has been linked with the Merseyside club before but I don’t see that deal coming to fruition and there have been rumours he may instead be moving to Celtic. Do Liverpool fans like the idea of either of these two joining the club?
