According to a myriad of sources the signs are pointing towards this much travelled battler signing for the north London outfit.
Ghana midfielder Stephen Appiah is training with Tottenham this week, with a view to earning a permanent move.
The 28-year-old has been without a club since ending his deal with Turkish side Fenerbahce in August and has previously been linked to Arsenal and West Ham.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp said: “He had a bit of a problem with his knee but he is fine now – he’s fit and looks OK. If he is fit he’s a terrific player.
“He is going to train with us and we’ll have a chat and see what the deal is.” (BBC Sport)
Those Spurs fans who have been crying out for a holding midfielder since Michael Carrick left may have their prayers answered with the news that Stephen Appiah is training with the club and a deal is highly probable if he impresses.(The Proud Cockerel)
It does seem that this former Juventus man is set to be offered a contract by Harry and if that is the case then it would be a very wise move in my opinion. The Ghanaian has real pedigree and only troublesome injury concerns could come into play in what otherwise should be a great free signing. Many Tottenham fans have been craving a holding midfielder to do the business and if he can steer clear of long term fitness problems then Appiah could well be the man for the job. Do Spurs fans think that this signing could work out well for the club or given his reported wage demands could it be a costly mistake?
