Manchester United lead the pack for Wigan’s £20m magician: Is he worth it?

If Manchester United land Wigan’s Antonio Valencia this summer they’ll have Steve Bruce to thank for making it happen.

Steve Bruce has admitted that Antonio Valencia’s exit from Wigan this summer is ‘inevitable’ — but the £20million-rated Ecuador winger could be making a much shorter trip than to Real Madrid.

Despite Real’s intent to return for Valencia after their transfer window bid was rejected, Sportsmail can reveal Manchester United have first option on the player.

Bruce said: ‘It’s inevitable he will go. The biggest clubs in the world are interested and we won’t stand in his way.’ (Daily Mail)

Bruce, who’s good friends with Sir Alex Ferguson, would most likely be more apt to helping his friend out over, say, Real Madrid. After all, don’t Madrid and Sir Alex Ferguson hate each other? I believe it has something to do with a current United winger…

What would Manchester United supporters think about a move for Valencia this summer? Would he have a spot on your squad?
