Even with Yakubu out for the season, Everton continue their search for a strike partner to pair with the Nigerian-born player for next season. After searching high and low, the man they want is sitting right in front of their nose. Could it really be that easy?
Everton manager David Moyes is hoping to strike a deal with Manchester City to keep Brazilian striker Jo at Goodison Park permanently.
Jo is currently on loan until the end of the season, having failed to settle at Eastlands.
The Brazilian, 21, was a long-term target for Moyes during his time at CSKA Moscow, but was never likely to move to Merseyside once it became clear City were willing to pay £18 million.
However, after just one Premier League goal for City, Moyes has him now, in the short-term at least, and Everton can only benefit from Jo’s desire to prove himself in the Premier League. (Daily Telegraph)
Jo has been a breath of fresh air since joining the club on loan from Manchester City. After moving in a new direction due to a change in ownership, the young Brazilian strike all but disappeared off the map. That’s when Moyes threw him a lifeline, allowing Jo the opportunity to prove himself on the biggest stage. And to this point it’s been so far, so good for both parties.
Rumours are linking Jo with a permanent move this summer to Everton for £9m.
