Chelsea have a new manager to take them the rest of the way. Last night, London club appointed Guus Hiddink as the name caretaker manager for the rest of the season. While that’s all well and good, there is an underlying issue regarding Hiddink that should have some supporters wondering if this was the right move.
At the same time Hiddink is coach Chelsea, the manager will also be coaching and working on tactics for the Russian national team. For a club of Chelsea’s calibre, this move is a bit puzzling, especially since the club is fighting for their Champions League lives in fourth place (five clear of Arsenal).
Whilst Hiddink does have a great footballing mind, it begs the question if he can handle running two high profile jobs at once. He has done this once in the past with Australia’s national team and PSV, but these are far different circumstances.
What do Chelsea supporters make of the situation? Do you expect this to work for both sides involved?
