While only two points seperate the top two in the Premier League, the bookmakers are in no doubt that Manchester United are looking nailed-on to equal Liverpool’s eighteen league titles. The Red Devils are in control of their own destiny, although a certain Liverpool player doesn’t expect them to continue their impressive winning run…
Fabio Aurelio was slotted into the midfield for his team’s 3-2 win at Portsmouth and actually looked half-decent in that position. The Sun reports that the Brazilian is still feeling upbeat about Liverpool’s title chances, especially as they still have to visit Old Trafford this season.
And he insisted: “They won’t get positive results right until the end of the season, plus we’ve got to go to Old Trafford.
“So if we keep getting our points, we’ll have a chance to beat them.
“Every game is a final now if we want to fight for the title at the end of the season.”
Liverpool certainly showed their fighting qualities when coming back from 2-1 down to beat Portsmouth in the final few minutes at Fratton Park last Saturday, but do supporters fear that they have already dropped too many points to overhaul their rivals? Manchester United are currently looking pretty unbeatable and it’s hard to see the Merseyside club getting a much-needed win at Old Trafford in March.
