Chelsea owner is losing something far more important than football matches: What does this mean for the future of the club?

Chelsea’s wealth and power could be taking a huge hit after it was announced that Roman Abramovich could be half than me he used to be. It looks like the credit crunch is hurting the mega-rich as well!

The full extent of the global credit crunch on Roman Abramovich, the Chelsea owner, became clearer when it was estimated that he has suffered losses of more than $9 billion over the past year.

According to Finans, a Russian financial magazine, Abramovich’s total wealth has fallen from $23 billion to $13.9 billion, although he still remains second on the list of Russia’s most wealthy individuals. (Daily Telegraph)

While it probably doesn’t mean that Abramovhich will stop spending at the club, it could definitely mean that the freewheeling days where the club would shell out loads of money for any player on the planet are over.

What do Chelsea supporters make of this news? After you even concerned about the club’s spending in the next couple of years?
