All good things must come to an end, and it appears as though one of the best players in the Manchester United squad is set to leave in the summer. Nevertheless, Sir Alex Ferguson will be confident that his team can cope without this world-class talent, especially as he’s failed to reach the heady heights of last season.
The Daily Mail report that ‘it’s just a matter of time’ before Cristiano Ronaldo ends the raft of speculation that’s been going on for over a year, and joins Real Madrid. The transfer is likely to take place in the summer, ‘according to sources’, and you can’t help but feel that Sir Alex Ferguson made a pact with the Portuguese forward that he could leave Old Trafford if he helped them to another Premier League and Champions League title.
Real Madrid remain confident that they can prise Cristiano Ronaldo away from Manchester United this summer.
Boluda, who replaced Ramon Calderon at the Bernabeu until the next elections, will be fighting former president Florentino Perez for the job full time when the vote is held in the summer.
Both are expected to make signing Ronaldo a priority and Boluda said: ‘I’m convinced that we’ll be able to see him (Ronaldo) at the Bernabeu.’
Is this just a PR stunt ahead of the presidential elections, with the Spanish champions no closer to signing the Manchester United forward than previously? Or do you get the impression from Ronaldo’s body language this season that a move is definitely on the cards this summer?
