Even with Real Madrid hot on his heels for his signature, this Manchester United star has made it clear that he’d rather play in the Premier League than make a move south to La Liga. But does he still have a spot in the starting XI?
‘I have the head start in Manchester and my idea is to stay here for a few more years,’ Tevez told Argentina’s Radio del Plata. ‘It is very difficult to leave one of the world’s biggest clubs.
‘We’ve had talks with Manchester, but nothing has been signed yet. Both sides have decided to wait for June to find a definitive solution. The conversations have been with the (directors) and not with (manager Sir Alex) Ferguson.’ (Daily Mail)
Ever since Berbatov made the move from Spurs, Tevez has become the odd man out on many occasions. With his role decreasing, rumours started swirling about that a move to Real Madrid was a distinct possibility. But even through the talk, Tevez has remained firm in his belief that he should get a new contract. Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United’s ownership have been slow in finalising a deal, and from the looks of things, it doesn’t appear that they’ll be speeding up the process anytime soon.
What do United supporters make of Tevez? Should he be part of the squad going forward?
