Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez isn’t the only manager in Merseyside that has an eye for young talent. Everton’s David Moyes is doing pretty well himself, thank you very much! He’s already secured the contract of this fantastic teen for the next five years!
Jack Rodwell, the highly-rated Everton youngster, has signed a new five-year contract at Goodison Park. The 17-year-old midfielder, who scored his first senior goal in last weekend’s FA Cup fifth-round win over Aston Villa, is now committed to the club until 2014.
David Moyes, the Everton manager, handed Rodwell his debut last season: “When we get good young players, we want to sign them up and keep them here,” he said. “That’s always the way that we have gone about it. (The Times Online)
Rodwell has already played in 13 matches this season for the senior squad and has made quiet an impression on Moyes. The Everton manager claimed Rodwell had done a wonderful job taking on the role of playing and starting after Moyes “threw him in at the deep end” earlier this year against the likes of Liverpool.
Rodwell is just one of a number of talented young players at Everton that will make the club shine in the near future. It will just be a matter of keeping all of these talented players under contract and getting them as much experience as possible.
