With rumours swirling about over Rafa Benitez’s future at Liverpool, it seems like everyone and their mum is coming out to give their opinion on the Spaniard’s future at the club. A Liverpool legend has lent his name to the “Rafa won’t leave” camp earlier today. He told Sky Sports that he’d be shocked to see Rafa walk away at this point.
“I’d be surprised if Rafa were to walk out on Liverpool.
“We do know for a while he’s been unhappy about certain things, but I still think it would take a big man to walk out on Liverpool at such a crucial stage of the season,” said Former Denmark international Jan Molby.
“Whereas some people are quite happy to back Rafael Benitez to be gone by the end of the week, I would rather take the odds on him being Liverpool manager next Monday.
“I heard the rumours myself last night, and they have been gathering pace, everyone’s talking about it.”
However Molby will not take the talk of Benitez’s possible departure too seriously for now.
He said: “I think the people who say it can’t happen might just prove to be spot-on.” (Sky Sports)
Like many, Molby couldn’t fathom Benitez without Liverpool, and vice versa. It seems strange that all of these rumours have been trickling out on the day or Liverpool’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid. Could the Spanish club be the source behind these “fresh” rumours? Whilst we don’t know for sure, we do know that Real Madrid are notorious for mind games and have been linked with Benitez in the past as their manager of the future. Could this be their subtle way of getting the Benitez train moving out of Anfield?
What do Liverpool supporters think of this whole mess? Will Rafa be here at the end of the season?
