The Gunners should already be in the quarter finals of the Champions League. They were vastly superior to Roma on Tuesday night, with the Italian side counting their lucky blessings that they escaped from the Emirates with a 1-0 defeat. There was a reason why they got out of jail in North London.
If there had been a cow on the pitch, then Nicklas Bendtner would surely have failed to hit the beast’s rear end with a musical instrument, such as a banjo. The Dane missed several chances, one in particular which was served up on a shiny silver platter, although The Sun reports that the striker was happy with his contribution.
“I would have liked to score myself but it wasn’t to be. Sometimes these things happen.
“The keeper came out, I tried to chip it over him but I chipped it too high. The most important thing is that we won.
“I’m happy to have contributed in winning the penalty.
“As long as I know I gave my contribution I can leave here with my head held high.
“We had a good grip on the match and we were unlucky we didn’t score more goals. “
Unlucky, or just inept Nicklas? Surely the Arsenal manager must be considering whether to keep hold of Bendtner in the summer, with the Danish striker proving to have a poor first touch and a failure to convert some very easy chances. Are there any Gunners supporters who think that the forward can still make it at the Emirates, or is it time to get rid?
