Liverpool lift the lid on why Rick Parry had to go: He couldn’t get a buyer to play “let’s make a deal”!

Rumours are slowly coming out regarding Rick Parry’s ousting at Liverpool. Apparently the rumours are stating that it wasn’t bad blood with Rafa that did him in after 12 years with the club; it had something to do with Parry being unable to get a new buyer for Hicks and Gillett.

Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry is leaving the club at the end of the season because he tried and failed to find a new investor to take over at Anfield. Parry had been in talks with a mystery Arab group but they decided against making an offer. (Daily Mirror)

We have known for some time now that Liverpool’s ownership was intent on selling the club to an Arab group–but for the most part nobody knew which one would come forward with an offer. There were a couple names being thrown around (Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was the most interested buyer), but in the end nobody was willing to pull the trigger. Thus, Parry became the fall guy for the missed opportunities.

Expect to see Hicks and Gillett doing things behind the scenes in the near future to find a buyer with Parry out of the picture.
