Arsenal’s manager would like this FORMER captain to put pen to paper on a new contract: Do supporters want him back next season?

He used to be a rock at Arsenal until one fateful night when everything went completely wrong and he lifted the lid on Arsenal’s private issues. Since then things have never been the same for the former captain or the manager, as both have kept a lid on their private dealings since. It appears that things must be getting better, as Wenger has made it clear that he’d like to have his defender back next season!

Arsène Wenger wants William Gallas to stay at Arsenal next season even though he took the club captaincy away from the France defender in November.

Gallas, 31, has been doing his talking on the pitch since he was dropped from the first-team squad for criticising his team-mates in an interview to publicise his autobiography in France. “His future is here and it’s bright,” Wenger said. “I believe he has shown that the only answer in football is quality performances.” (The Times)

It’s amazing how these rifts change over time. Gallas is good player on and off the pitch, and to be honest, it seemed a bit strange to see him in the media for the wrong reasons. Maybe he’s learned his lesson since then. Regardless of his prior transgressions, Wenger is ready to let it go in the hopes of keeping him at the club going forward. With a club as young as Arsenal that wouldn’t seem to be such a bad idea.

What do Arsenal supporters think? Would you like Gallas to stay around?
