City were one of three clubs topping the wish list of this fantastic midfielder, but after much discussion, it looks like he’ll be taking his skills to Seria A. That is if you believe his father’s recent comments!
Juve have always been his most persistent suitors though and Diego’s father and agent, Djair da Cunha, has made no attempt to disguise the playmaker’s desire to join Claudio Ranieri’s side at the end of the season.
“He wants Juve, in the Bianconeri jersey he would win the Ballon d’Or,” Da Cunha told Tuttosport.
“I would be happy if the deal with Werder Bremen takes off.
“The messages of Juventus supporters have touched my son. He dreams of a club that wins in Europe.
“€10m, €20m, €30m, this has to be decided by [Klaus] Allofs, the general manager.” (Setanta)
It looks like money can’t buy you everything. Diego did say City were near the top of the list, but it looks like whatever Juve supporters are doing is paying off. Diego’s current club Werder Bremen were already in talks with Juve last season, but the talks broke down when the German club reportedly passed on a £17.9 million offer from the Seria A giants. For now he’s being linked with a move to Turin, but like every transfer rumour, that could change in the blink of an eye.
