Rafael Benitez has once again failed to bring the league title back to Anfield. The purchases of Andrea Dossena and Robbie Keane were supposed to make all the difference, although it’s been same old Liverpool, especially over the last couple of months. It appears the manager is already looking towards next season, with this player top of the list.
ESPN report that the Reds are in the hunt for yet another Spanish player in the form of Raul Albiol. The centre-half is currently plying his trade at Valencia and Benitez must clearly feel that he can bring a more solid feel to a defence which has not been watertight enough this campaign. The Valencia director of football spills the proverbial beans.
He told skysports.com. “The money situation is complicated at the club, but formally nobody has spoken with us about Abiol.
“But we are aware that the Reds have been scouting around here in recent months.”
Liverpool’s first-choice central defensive pairing is Carragher and Skrtel, although with Daniel Agger insisting on first-team football and Sam Hyypia not getting any younger, it’s clear that the Reds need quality reinforcements in this department. Who else should the club buy that can help them get closer to Manchester United in the league?
