Representatives of the club appear to be opening talks for the goal machine!
Valencia supremo Fernando Gomez admits Manchester City have made an approach for David Villa.
After refusing to rule out the sale of both Villa and teammate David Silva yesterday, Gomez was asked about reports that two City representatives recently were in Spain to talk about the striker.
“Yes, it’s true,” said Gomez, “but there were no offers made. The president demanded a significant amount and things did not progress.” (tribalfootball.com)
Of course it’s not the first time David Villa and Man City have been mentioned in the same breath but if this source is accurate then this would at least prove that moves are being made to bring the Valenica hitman to Eastlands. The La Liga side are said to want at least £28m for the Spanish international and that isn’t a bad price either given just how lethal he is and as the Mestalla outfit are in financial dire straits i would imagine they may even take less. He would potentially form one of the best strike partnerships in the Premier League if set alongside Robinho and would further help Mark Hughes’s cause to make it into the top six or higher next term. Do City fans think this deal could occur?
