This legendary Premier League hitman appears to be set to leave for nothing in the summer.
Manchester City can expect to fight it out with Aston Villa for the services of striker Michael Owen in the summer.
The England international is due to fall out of contract at Newcastle in the summer and looks all set to quit St James’ Park with a host of clubs showing an interest in him. (eatsleepsport.com)
Yes he does get his fair share of injuries and yes he may have seen better days but Michael Owen still has a lot to offer and the fact he will be available in the summer for nothing surely makes any deal a bargain, even if you consider his wage demands. He has still managed a good goalscoring ratio at St James’ Park with 30 goals in 68 games and when free of injury can be relied upon to still manage a decent return. There are bound to be many interested parties and it does seem likely he will move on and remember the former Liverpool man is still only 29 so not exactly over the hill. Do City fans think a move for Owen would be a risk worth taking or do the club already have enough strikers of note on their books?
