Manchester City to make AWESOME £72m QUARTET bid: THREE Great, One Good!

Mark Hughes gets ready to plan huge spending spree!

Manchester City are planning audacious moves for Franck Ribéry, the Bayern Munich playmaker, and Thierry Henry, the Barcelona forward, at the end of the season. The club are determined to mount a sustained assault on the Barclays Premier League’s established top four and have identified the France players as their leading targets in the pursuit of Champions League football.

Their ambitions do not end there, however. Despite being rebuffed in their attempts in January to sign John Terry, the Chelsea captain, City plan to make another inquiry about the England defender’s availability in the summer and are also expected to trigger the £17 million release clause in the contract of Roque Santa Cruz, of Blackburn Rovers. City have had five offers rejected for the Paraguay striker in 12 months, but his release clause comes into effect in June. (The Times)

So he we go again another list of top notch talent that has appeared on the Eastlands radar, but can Mark Hughes convince any of these to move to City? Well of the four Roque Santa Cruz seems the most likely. Clearly Sam Allardyce didn’t want to lose the hotshot during the January transfer window knowing that the Paraguayan’s goals could make the difference between staying up and going down but come the summer he may be powerless to stop the former Bayern man insisting on a transfer. Thierry Henry is beginning to show Barca just what he can do and given that the striker is moving to the twilight of his career one would imagine that his last dream would be to finally win the Champions League and he is not likely to do that at the Blues any time soon. Franck Ribery is an interesting prospect, he does seem likely to leave the Bundesliga but could he be tempted by the megabucks on offer at City? John Terry seems to me inseperable from Stamford Bridge and if he were ever to move then it would surely be to go abroad and not to another Premier League side. Do Man City fans think the club can capture any of these four?
