Get ready. The all new rumour reporting article system is in full effect!
Arsenal are on the lookout for a striker: because the club are working under the assumption that Adebayor will be going toMilan in the summer. As part of that contingency plan, they have been casting their net around Europe looking for a replacement. Unfortunately, it’s not all that easy as a number of potential targets who have been looked at, simply aren’t up to scratch.
Alvaro Negredo, the former Real Madrid reserve player currently breaking records for Almeria, is one such player from Spain who has been monitored – but is unfancied by Arsene Wenger.
Another player who has been followed by the London club is Fernando Llorente – but again, no approach has been made as Arsenal are unconvinced. Incidentally, Tottenham are also keeping an eye on Llorente and will have someone watching the Athletic Bilbao striker at next wednesday’s Copa del Rey final.
Of the more recognised and proven strikers out there, Arsenal have made an enquiry regarding Diego Forlan who is enjoying a fantastic season at Atletico Madrid – and they have been told he could be up for sale if the Spanish side fails to qualify for the Champions League.

At first glance it seems an unlikely proposition but looking closer it could just be that Diego Forlan fits the bill perfectly for the north London side.
If Adebayor does leave the club, and many hope and believe he will, then the club would presumably opt for a strike partnership of Eduardo and Robin Van Persie with support coming from the likes of Bendtner and Vela and perhaps the possibility of playing Arshavin behind just the one front man. Then factor in that the club desperately needs some older wiser heads and then add to the mix that Diego Forlan has become a feared predator in La Liga and would no doubt like to prove any doubters in England that his flop spell at Old Trafford was not a true reflection of his worth.
The Uruguayan has managed an incredible 110 goals in just under five seasons in Spain and has proven this term that 29 he still has a lot to offer and could be snapped up for around £8-10m which would represent very good value.
Forlan to Arsenal: Could be one of the bargains of the season!
