Arsenal forward Andrey Arshavin has urged Arsene Wenger to enter the race for Chelsea and Liverpool target Yuri Zhirkov.
The Russian playmaker, who joined the Gunners for £15 million in February, has recently expressed his bafflement at being able to play effectively on the left wing.
And the former Zenit St Petersburg playmaker says he would like Arsenal to dip into their war chest this summer to sign fellow countryman Zhirkov from CSKA Moscow, the man dubbed the ‘Russian Ronaldinho’.

Yuri Zhirkov is a something of a wanted man in the big leagues across Europe right now and it would be safe to assume that he would more than likely be on his way out of CSKA this summer but previously the smart money was on a move to Stamford Bridge but perhaps he could be instead swapping west for north London?
The left sided player has a good touch and great vision and is an intelligent crosser of the ball but one would wonder how he would fit into the Arsenal jigsaw? The left side of midfield is pretty much sewn up with Nasri occupying the space and then there is the small matter of long term injury victim Tomas Rosicky who also calls the left side his home. Of course there is some scope for alterations and Nasri can effectively used to play in the hole behind the strikers to accommodate such a move but whilst it may well be a move that Arshavin would like to see it’s not one i can imagine Wenger pursuing as he is probably far to aware that there are other areas in the side far more in need of urgent repair work.
