Man Utd set to see off Liverpool challenge for £20m Winger

The all new rumour reporting article system is in full effect!

The Rumour

Manchester United are confident seeing off late interest from Liverpool to land Wigan Athletic winger Luis Antonio Valencia.

The Sun says United are favourites to beat Liverpool in the £20million race for Valencia.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also chasing the Ecuadorian, who seems certain to be the latest player to quit the JJB Stadium for a bigger club this summer.

The Analysis

Valencia had 90 minutes to impress Sir Alex last night as his Wigan side came up against the champions elect at the JJB and he did a mighty fine job. I haven’t seen the Ecuadorian in action too often and was under the impression that the praise being lavished on him was over the top and inaccurate but i have to say that in the game yesterday he won me over completely.

He had the Man United defence at sixes and sevens (particularly Patrice Evra), he showed great vision and great composure and for much of the game was essentially Steve Bruce’s only really effectively weapon. I would actually say he was the Man of the Match even though his side were in the end unlucky to lose. Ferguson can’t failed to have been impressed and if contrast and compare Luis Antonio’s performance against sulky Cristiano (the player rumoured to be replaced by Valencia) then i know which of the two came out on top.

The Likelihood

Valencia to Man United: If Cristiano leaves, and every time he argues with the boss it seems more and more likely, then i think this deal will happen for sure.
