The all new rumour reporting article system is in full effect!
According to the Daily Star, concerns are growing at Stamford Bridge over the long-term fitness of centre-back Ricardo Carvalho, who has picked up a series of hamstring injuries.
Carvalho has played just 18 games in all competitions this campaign and thoughts are that Chelsea will look to cash in on the 30-year-old while they still can.
Alves, 27, is seen as the ideal replacement and has been in outstanding form for Porto, both domestically and in Europe.
However, Chelsea will have to fend off competition from Real Madrid if they are to sign the Portuguese international.

The highly rated Bruno Alves is beginning to collect a growing number of admirers with his performances at champions elect Porto and the talk is that he is ready to say goodbye to the team he has been at the club for near on ten years, coming through the clubs youth ranks before being loaned out to a succession of Greek teams before finally getting his crack at a run in the first team. He hasn’t looked back and is now a regular in the international set up.
Chelsea star Ricardo Carvalho’s injury problems have led the 30 year old to start just eleven Premier League games this season but i don’t see the west London club splashing out in such an elaborate fashion, not with Alex performing so manfully as a replacement and with the added security of having Branislav Ivanovic as a potential back up.
Bruno Alves to Chelsea: Don’t see it happening.
