Alan Shearer seems destined to take his boyhood heroes down to The Championship and whilst it’s unsure as to whether the former playing legend will continue at the helm it appears the club is already drawing up a list of potential summer signings.
The likes of Mark Viduka and Obafemi Martins may well leave the club when the season draws to an end and Michael Owen is almost certain to leave with this contract coming to an end.
Given the lack of effective firepower at the club and the likely departure of many players should Newcastle get relegated, i am not surprised they are looking to the likes of Peter Crouch as a possible signings.
The Portsmouth man has watched as many of this former teammates have been sold off to make ends meet and he is bound to be asking himself whether a stay at Fratton Park is in his own best interests. The former Liverpool man has had a good season, netting 16 times for a team that has spent a big chunk of the season at the wrong end of the table.
Crouch to Newcastle: I fancy this deal to go ahead, even if the Toon Army are relegated.
