The Rumour

MANCHESTER CITY have stepped up the chase for Arsenal’s Emmanuel Adebayor.

City officials first contacted his advisors last October. But they were told to try again in the summer – despite the striker having just signed an £80,000-a-week deal – when Arsene Wenger might be more willing to do business for around £21million.

City have since asked his agent Stephane Courbis to be kept up with developments as the African looks for the Emirates exit.

A source said: “City made their interest known and have no problem finding the fee or increasing his pay. It is not definite Adebayor will leave Arsenal but looks more likely than last year.”

The Analysis

Well this is sure to make Arsenal fans very happy indeed, not only will it mean they lose a player who has frankly treated them like crap by essentially trying to engineer a move elsewhere but then compounded that error of judgement by taking umbridge when the clubs fans didn’t really like him doing so! It will be doubly welcomed if he were to join a Premier League side as the supporters can then hurl abuse at the Togolese man twice a season at least!

But seriously, not that i wasn’t serious before, Adebayor is really trying to explain his side of the whole nasty affair to Gunners fans who can be bothered to listen. His interview with the fawning figure of Garth Crooks was mistimed and mismanaged and basically gave the striker the chance to apologise for his piss poor season and his bad behaviour in the summer but he did neither and instead tried to blame the media for everything including his stunning loss of form.

Man City would be welcome to him but would have to then work out what to do with the other half a dozen forwards at the club!

The Likelihood

Adebayor to Man City: If the Arsenal man doesn’t secure a move to AC Milan, where he can join up with his friend the San Siro Executive Director Adriano Galliani, then he would probably jump at the chance to make some more money at Eastlands!
