Manchester City Win Race for £42m Pair

The Rumour

MANCHESTER CITY believe they have won a £42million race for Carlos Tevez and Gareth Barry.

The richest club in the world are ready to rubber-stamp a £32m deal to steal Tevez away from city rivals United. And they will offer £10m-rated Barry £90,000 a week to see off Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs.

The move for Argentinian striker Tevez, 25, also blows Liverpool and Chelsea out of the chase with City happy to meet Kia Joorabchian’s £32m asking price.

The Analysis

If you weren’t already aware that Man City have money to burn then this latest rumour titbit should probably clarify the case. Carlos Tevez looks set to have played his last game for United and if the Eastlands outfit have indeed put in the biggest bid then no doubt the Argentine’s parasitic agent will take the money and run and then hopefully the former West Ham man will be freed from his Kia’s clutches forever!

If Mark Hughes does manage to snare these two then he will go some way to getting his side that little bit nearer the top four club but it will take a season or two before they can become realistic challengers to the Champions League monopoly. They probably need another centre back and perhaps another winger before the summer is out and no doubt they will bring in many players in the summer.
