Tottenham are planning an £8 million bid for Sunderland winger Kieran Richardson.
The Sunday Mirror says manager Harry Redknapp has identified the 24-yearold as a player who can help his side push for a Champions League place.
Richardson, who scored five goals last term as the Black Cats’ stand-in captain, was one bright spot in a disappointing campaign which left them fretting about their Premier League status until the last day of the season.
Redknapp, though, has always admired the player, remembering him as a schoolboy at West Ham.

Kieron Richardson is an interesting character. A player with talent but nonetheless a player who hasn’t really fulfilled any of the early potential that saw him break into the England set up over four years ago only to see his career stutter somewhat since.
The left sided midfielder suffered as many others in the past have in terms of finding it hard to break into the Man United set-up and after five years at the club, during which he managed just 40 odd starts, he was offloaded to start afresh at Sunderland and this season he put in some consistent performances that belied the clubs lowly position but may well now be hoping for a move to a club in the top half of the table so that he can indeed make his way back into the national team reckoning and that is where Spurs come in.
The former West Ham man was on the youth team books when Harry Redknapp was at the club so no doubt the Spurs manager has been keeping an eye on the kids progress in recent years and that i guess is where this rumour comes from. Spurs could do with a talented wide player on the left and the 24 year old Londonder is a realistic target well worth considering.
Richardson to Spurs: Quite likely.
