Arsenal Man Proves that Hardwork Get’s it’s Just Rewards: Are you Listening Adebayor?

Good news for former Donkey!

Arsene Wenger has already said that persuading both Bendtner and Robin van Persie to sign new contracts will be a priority this summer and it appears that progress has been made with the Danish 21-year-old forward.
“It is of course a priority of mine to prolong my contract, and I have never said anything else,” said Bendtner. “For me it is of course sweet to receive the backing from the manager, and I hope to stay at the club for a long time.” (Telegraph)

I genuinely believe this is good news. Obviously Nicklas Bendtner has his limitations and TH14 he is not but he is not far off being along the same lines as the great Alan Smith! The Dane came in for some stick this past season and rightly so because it appeared his heart was not in it and he was unable to string a decent performance together.

Then it appears that Arsene worked his magic and sat down with the youngster and something happened. The 21 year old got his confidence back and he started to put in his workload and find the back of the net and last term his return of 14 goals from 27 starts made him the second most prolific striker at the club behind RVP (who will hopefully soon also sign a new deal).

I am sure Bendtner would be the first to recognize that his game is not about flowing visionary football but more about bluster and directness and he could yet become a player Wenger and Arsenal can not do without and I for one am glad his hard work has led to a new deal. One can only hope that Emmanuel Adebayor is carted off soon to prove to any at the club that simply turning up and collecting your piece of silver is not good enough!
