Another youngster targeted by the north Londoners.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is chasing St Etienne midfielder Blaise Matuidi.
The Mirror says Matuidi, 22, has been recommended by Arsenal’s French scout Gilles Grimandi and fits the bill for Wenger.
The powerful France youth international is valued at about £5million.

22 year old Blaise Matuidi is on the verge of a call up to the senior French set up, such have been his impressive showings for St Etienne. However his club came within a whisker of relegation this season and the young talented midfielder will know that if he wants to continue his progression in the game then he will probably have to move on and a switch to the Premier League and to Arsenal in particular is bound to interest him.
The danger of course is that Blaise could get lost in the sea of youthful stars at the club and in many ways the Gunners are really in need of a player with a solid grounding of top level experience and that is something they would not get from this signing.
Many midfielders of value have been linked with a move to the Emirates but one by one they appear to be dead ends. Xabi Alonso appears unlikely to join another Premier League side if indeed he does leave Liverpool and Gareth Barry signed for Man City. The likes of Miguel Veloso and Yaya Toure are consistently mentioned as potential targets but neither have actually been formally approached whereas at least Matuidi has been suggested by the clubs Head Scout in France as a good buy.
Matuidi to Arsenal: Given the small amount of money Wenger apparently has to spend (unless he sells of course) I feel it is unlikely he will look to sign this French Under 21 international.
