Three Rafa Targets who could end 19 years of yearning!
Another Portsmouth player who has been linked with Liverpool for some time now is full-back Glen Johnson. Reports in the last few days indicate new Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is also interested in signing the England international and reports on Sunday suggest Chelsea’s willingness to pay over £10m means he will return to Stamford Bridge.
Johnson left Chelsea in 2007 and has cemented himself as England’s first choice right back this season with consistent displays for Portsmouth.
Liverpool have moved to beat Real Madrid to the signing of Valencia’s David Silva with an offer of cash plus Andrei Voronin as manager Rafael Benitez begins his summer rebuilding plans.
Liverpool will be priced out of the market by Manchester City for Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz.

This trio, if captured by Rafa, would represent an improvement across the weakest area of the Liverpool line up but it appears finances may dictate that all three could head elsewhere this summer.
David Silva looks certain to leave Valencia after recent reports claimed the La Liga side’s financial problems were even worse than feared but a move to Real Madrid could be more likely but Benitez has been to Spain to meet up with the talented attacker so maybe he can convince the Spaniard to join his international team mates at Anfield?
Glen Johnson would surely prefer to not to return to Stamford Bridge after his last spell at Chelsea proved something of a pointless exercise, for the record in four years at the club he managed just 35 Premier League starts.
Roque Santa Cruz in many ways embodies the exact attributes to complement El Nino and is definitely set to leave Blackburn but again it seems that Manchester City are in a position to bid more for the Paraguayan and also offer a bigger wage. However the Bayern Munich man would do well to insist of a move to a Champions League contender over a hefty pay rise.
Silva/Johnson/Santa Cruz to Liverpool: Rafa could snap up one of these if he secures enough cash from player sales, maybe two.
