A former Premier League player looks to prove his doubters wrong!
The Uruguay striker smashed 32 goals in La Liga alone this season, putting him in the frame for a big money transfer. Manchester City are also rumoured to be interested which could pose a problem but Benitez will be buoyed by Forlan’s desire to prove his ability in England after a poor spell at Manchester United: “Do I want to return to the Premier League? I believe I have a debt with England after my time with Manchester United.” After securing Champions League football, Atletico Madrid will be reluctant to let him leave.

The speculation seems to be growing about Forlan’s future return to the Premier League. He clearly would relish the chance to return to these shores but can Liverpool fans forgive him for being a former Man United man, albeit briefly and very poorly.
As a striker he seems a far more polished version of the player who looked out of place and short of pace. Now the Uruguayan is very much the finished article capable of scoring goals of brilliance as well as lethally finishing from close range.
At 30 some might baulk at Atletico’s valuation but then they paid £18m to Villarreal for his services just two years ago and as La Liga’s leading scorer last season he is clearly a better player.
Forlan to Liverpool: Not as crazy an idea as it at first seems!
