Midfielder’s north London nightmare set to end!
DAVID BENTLEY is poised to end his horror spell at White Hart Lane by signing for Aston Villa on July 1.
The former Blackburn midfielder has endured a tough season at Tottenham, making just 20 league starts.
He scored only one goal, the memorable lob-volley against Arsenal at the Emirates that contributed to a 4-4 draw.
The 24-year-old has fallen out of favour with Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, who has been keen to cash in on the seven-cap England international.
Redknapp is keen to raise funds for his own summer spending spree as he attempts to turn Spurs into a top-six outfit.

I get the impression that July 1st can’t come sooner for Bentley and Spurs for their brief union has been blighted by poor form and a change of manager that has led to the former Arsenal and Blackburn Rovers star becoming something of a forgotten man at White Hart Lane.
Many were shocked at the outlay paid by Daniel Levy to sign David in the first place and his form was patchy to say the least and that gave more ammunition to those who thought he was over priced, a similar scenario could be applied to Darren Bent but the difference being you could only accuse one of the pair or being lazy and uneffective and that would be Bentley.
He would be a good signing for Aston Villa as the side could do with more creativity in the midfield and if they get him for the reported £8m then it could well be a wise investment.
Bentley to Aston Villa: Very likely indeed
