Arsenal In Queue Chasing £16m Tough Midfielder: Just What Cesc Wants!

What Cesc wants, Cesc Gets…Probably!

The Rumour

Miguel VELOSO

Bolton Wanderers are quietly confident of landing Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso.

The Manchester Evening News says Wanderers are reported to have increased their bid for a player who first came to their attention during the club’s UEFA Cup campaign two seasons ago.

Bolton failed to land Veloso last January, being unwilling to meet Sporting’s valuation.

However, it is suggested they have returned with a £10.2m offer for the club’s new regime to consider. Arsenal are also said to be monitoring developments over the player.

Veloso’s sale could help balance the books but Sporting are digging in their heels for a higher bid.

The Analysis

Cesc Fabregas has come out and said that he wants the club to buy a midfield hard man and perhaps Miguel Veloso could be just the man that Arsenal should approach? The Sporting Lisbon midfielder has been linked with a move to various Premier League clubs over the past year after the 23 year old made it clear he wanted to leave the Portuguese side.

However his employers are not quite so enthusiastic about selling international defensive midfielder unless they get what they feel he is worth which at last count was somewhere in the region of £16m. Arsenal and no doubt Bolton also, will struggle to accept such a valuation but the longer this draws on perhaps the smaller the price will become.

One can understand why Cesc would cry out for a player to finally fill the gap left by Patrick Vieira and only partially replaced by Mathieu Flamini before he decided to opt for a place on the AC Milan bench and a fistful of dollars!

The Likelihood

Veloso to Arsenal: I really don’t see the talented battler opting for a move to Bolton from his current level of Champions League football but he would surely jump at the chance to move to the Emirates!
