Arsenal Eager to Complete £25m Serie A Deal

Wenger wants deal done now!

The Rumour

Football - Arsenal Training

Emmanuel Adebayor has been offered to AC and Inter Milan – to stop him from being sold to Chelsea.

Arsenal are determined to auction off Adebayor this summer and have hired agents to try to strike a £25million deal.

But Gunners boss Arsene Wenger fears that the Milan giants have lost interest in the 25-year-old after his disappointing season. That could leave Chelsea in the driving seat as Adebayor’s agent yesterday admitted that the Togo striker would relish the chance of working with Carlo Ancelotti.

The Analysis

Arsene Wenger tried his best to defend the indefensible when he backed his striker during a season the Togolese striker would love to forget. Adebayor had angered many with his attempts last summer to engineer a move to Italy and he followed that up by spending most of the season prancing about the pitch like he couldn’t care less about the club. Towards the end of the season things went from bad to worse and Wenger dropped him from the squad completely which seemed to be the final nail in Emmanuel’s Arsenal coffin.

Now the boss wants the whole thing resolved, and quickly. Interest from AC Milan and Roma has been brewing without either club actually backing their intent with solid bids and now Inter Milan have entered the race leaving the club hopeful of a sale sometime soon.

Frankly if the club manages to get anything over £20m then they would have done very well out of the whole debacle because even though the striker had a damn good season the year before last, he still isn’t quite as good as many believe him to be. He is very much a confidence player who really needs a great deal of assistance from those around him in order to be prolific.
