Manchester United Set to Make Club Record £45m Striker Bid!

Sir Alex set to spend huge chunk of Cristiano money on La Liga star?

The Rumour

MANCHESTER United have targeted Atletico Madrid’s £45m striker Sergio Aguero.

Sir Alex Ferguson has turned his sights on the young Argentine star after giving up on Valencia’s David Villa, who is expected to join Real Madrid.

Aguero – nicknamed Kun – has scored 37 league goals in the last two years for Atletico and is only still 21.

Chelsea have already made contact over the talented striker, but were put off by his £200,000-a-week wage demands.

But Fergie is hoping that Aguero will lower those as he would get the chance to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.

The Analysis

Sir Alex Ferguson is no mug and he doesn’t normally act without thinking so I severely doubt that he would fork out such a large fee for the impressive, but still rough around the edges, Kun Aguero. There is no doubting the 21 year old has talent, in much the same way there is no denying that he is one of the worst divers in footballing history (for evidence CLICK HERE) and I really do not see Man United bidding so highly for the Atletico man, not even in today’s hugely inflated transfer market.

Clearly Fergie has some cash to splash and he fully intends on replacing Carlos Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo but will not rush into paying over the odds, hence the delay in sealing the likely deal for Wigan wide man Luis Antonio Valencia.

Aguero is of course almost as well known for being Diego Maradona’s son in law than being a pretty nifty striker and his form in the past two La Liga seasons has made him a feared predator but I think he may decide to stick it out in Spain, not least because he helped the club reach the Champions League next term and will be keen to see just how much he can achieve at the Vicente Calderon.
