Spurs Make £6m Bid for Serie A Striker

Harry puts in bid for Nigerian international

The Rumour

Sports News - October 26, 2008

Tottenham have made a £6m offer for Inter Milan’s Nigerian star Victor Obinna.

The striker almost joined Everton on loan last season but failed to gain a work permit.

Reports in Italy say Tottenham have made a £6m offer but they will face competition from other Europena clubs.

The Analysis

22 year old Victor Obinna has struggled to make an impact at Inter Milan and Jose Mourinho could well be looking to trim his squad in the summer and the Nigerian would be one player he could probably afford to cash in on. The speedy forward has a successful spell at Chievo helping them to promotion to speedy promotion back to Serie A after just one season in Serie B.

Everton are said to have come very close to signing the player on loan last summer but the deal was scuppered due to work permit issues which would appear to have lessened as he has become a mainstay of the national team’s World Cup Qualification campaign.

You would have to ask Harry Redknapp why he would feel the need to sign yet another striker given the fact he has four international forwards to choose from, but clearly the Spurs boss is planning on some big changes this summer.

The Likelihood

Obinna to Spurs: Don’t think this will come to fruition.
