McCarthy invests wisely.
Wolves have signed striker Kevin Doyle from Reading for a club record fee believed to be about £6.5m.
The 25-year-old Republic of Ireland international had been linked with other top-flight clubs but has signed a four-year deal with the Molineux side.
“Wolves were the first club that came in and settled things with Reading and so they were the first club I spoke to,” he told the Wolves website.

Mick McCarthy has secured a good signing here and Kevin Doyle will be keen to remind Premier League defences just what he is capable of. The 25 year old Irishman managed 13 goals in his first season in the top flight and has been linked with a host of clubs since and after his Reading side failed to make it through the play-offs he was destined to make the move back and Wolves strike force will be boosted by this capture.
