Stalled deal seems to be back on!
Fiorentina sports director Pantaleo Corvino has confirmed talks with Arsenal over the sale of Felipe Melo.
“Arsenal has made us a proposal for Melo, Arsene Wenger still wants to talk to me, still wants me to consider their proposals,” said Corvino.
“I will not rule anything out, up to a certain time limit, I do not exclude anything.”
Asked about a swap involving Emmanuel Eboue, Corvino added: “Eboue is a name that I offered, because he is in the last year of his contract and has the corresponding technical features that we are looking for.”

It had been reported that Felipe Melo was in fact happy to stay at Fiorentina and hence signed a one year extension to his contract but then the club’s sporting director claimed that a sale was a very real possibility and that a deal could see Emmanuel Eboue going in the other direction, cue loud cheers from the Emirates, but now it seems a potential move is back on.
The Brazilian defensive midfielder was one of the highlights of the somewhat pointless Confederations Cup and his international teammate and former Gunner Gilberto Silva had reportedly urged the 25 year old to seek his fortune at the north London club.
He would be just the kind of signing that Cesc Fabregas had urged the club to make some weeks back and I am sure Gunners fans will be keen to see this one completed, especially if it involved club whipping boy Eboue also heading for the exit!
Melo to Arsenal: It seems that La Viola are trying to get the deal done by essentially encouraging bids for Felipe and that can only make such a move a very real possibility.
