La Liga giants try to come up with a deal that Wenger can’t refuse.
Barca have a budget of £50m, so they could make Arsenal an offer they can’t refuse.
One of Barca’s vice-presidents, Jaume Ferrer, said on radio: “The coach really wants to get on with one of his major midfield signings as quickly as possible.
“We are confident we can land someone that we want and everybody knows what players we are after. They have been constantly mentioned in the press.’’
If Arsenal are not interested in just a cash deal for their skipper, Barca are prepared to offer players in part-exchange.
One player they would offer up is holding midfielder Yaya Toure, who has been on Gunners boss Arsene Wenger’s radar, and is the brother of Arsenal defender Kolo Toure.

This source isn’t the most reliable but if you add two and two together it does hold a thimble of potential. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is a big fan of Yaya Toure and would dearly love to line up alongside Cesc Fabregas in the heart of the Gunners midfield, therefore it seems highly unlikely to would consider offloading his captain in order to secure the deal.
After four years without any silverware there will obviously be some unhappy players but it seems that most are eager to resolve the situation rather than beating a hasty retreat, this was evidenced by Robin Van Persie’s signing of a new long term contract at the club.
Barcelona would dearly love to sign the player they let slip out of their hands years ago but I simply do not see this happening, at least not for a long time to come.
