Chelsea Plan Ambitious £70m Double Serie A Raid

Mr. Ancelotti plans raid on former club this summer!

The Rumour

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti won’t rule out bidding for AC Milan pair Alexandre Pato and Andrea Pirlo.

“Chelsea have never made an offer for Pirlo and Pato, but that doesn’t mean we won’t do so in the future,” he commented.

“It is a strange transfer market, pumped up by Real Madrid’s shock buys. It’s difficult to sign anyone in this climate, but there is time until August 31.”

Ancelotti admits he’s been pleasantly surprised by his treatment from the local media.

“The most substantial difference is the pressure around the team and the Coach. It has been a very ‘soft’ start to the season for me,” he added.

The Analysis

So there you have it, Carlo is still very much in the hunt for two of his former San Siro stars but will AC Milan play ball? Well given the reception the club got from their fans at the start of pre-season training, i.e.a RIOT, it seems unlikely the club will want to lose any other high profile players but it could be beyond their control if either star really pushes for such a move then the club would be silly to stand in their way.

Pato and Pirlo represent the best in the business in their positions and their combined value is estimated at around £70m but that is chicken feed to Roman Abramovich, even in these hard economic times. The Russian billionaire has stated that he wishes to bring in stellar names this summer and the west London club has already brought in some clever, if not earth shattering, names in the form of Sturridge, Zhirkov and Turnbull and no one would bet against them spending big before the end of August.

The Likelihood

Pato/Pirlo to Chelsea: The Italian midfielder is a possibility but the Brazilian is very unlikely!
