Benitez prepares to let one of his Spaniards leave.
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has given up hope of keeping full-back Alvaro Arbeloa.
The Mirror says Arbeloa will join Real Madrid next week for a fee of around £6m.
“We offered him an extension before, but if you have an idea and the agent has another one, you have to find solutions,” he said.

Seems almost inevitable that Alvaro Arbeloa will make his move to Real Madrid and its an exit that suits all parties and will be conducted amicably enough. The Spanish international has seen his starting right back berth handed to Glen Johnson but he gets a move to the mega rich La Liga club and providing they don’t sign a succession of players in his position he should do well.
Arbeloa has done pretty well in his two and a half years at the club and will no doubt be keen to impress in Spain so as to cement his place in the international plans with there being a World Cup on the horizon.
Arbeloa to Real Madrid: He has probably already started packing.
