Manchester City are reportedly in talks about a shock swoop for Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
Sky Sports News has claimed the 25-year-old Togo international, who joined the Gunners from Monaco in January 2006 for around £3million, could be set for a switch to Eastlands after weekend negotiations reached a ‘significant level’.
A swoop for Adebayor, who has scored 46 goals in 146 league appearances for the north Londoners, would be a major shock given that City are closing in Carlos Tevez and have already snapped up Roque Santa Cruz this summer.

If this is true then Mark Hughes may want to seek some psychiatric help as he seems ready to fill his entire squad with strikers. Perhaps the clubs owners want to change the way the game is played and are looking to build an unlikely formation for the new season, comprising of 10 frontmen and Shay Given!
Wenger tried his best to convince the Arsenal fans that Emmanuel Adebayor wasn’t really all that bad and that he didn’t deserve to be the subject of the boos he received but even the Gunners boss must want this resolved before the new season gets under way. As long as the club receives a good fee for the Togolese striker then I am sure they will gladly take it.
Adebayor to Man City: Emmanuel will leave but could be for a move to Italy, unless of course City offer him more in which case he will gladly change his plans!
