Manchester City boss Mark Hughes is keen on Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso.

It appears that Real Madrid and Man City are competing for the biggest spenders of the summer and with that in mind Mark Hughes appears to want to crash the Xabi Alonso to Spain party by considering a bid for the Liverpool midfielder.
This could be interesting because with the Spaniard wanting to move to the Bernabeu but with the La Liga giants unwilling to match the valuation for the 27 year old, what happens if the Eastlands side put in a bid that matches Rafa’s expecatations?
That would leave Xabi in a sticky situation. He says he wants to move back to Spain, at least thats what the speculation tells us, but what if a significant bid is not forthcoming from his homeland?
