Better late than never!
Blackburn are to hand Italian striker Christian Vieri another chance to earn a contract at Ewood Park after he impressed during a recent trial spell.
The 36-year-old ex-Juventus and Inter Milan star spent a week with Rovers at a pre-season training camp in Austria and will join them on tour in Italy.
He is a free agent after leaving Atalanta at the end of last season.
“We’ll see how long he wants to give it to see if he can get to Premier League level,” said Rovers boss Sam Allardyce.

Christian Vieri was once one of the most feared strikers on the planet but that was a long long time ago and whilst it’s good to see Big Sam Allardyce giving the former Italian international a shot at a long overdue Premier League outing will it prove a fruitless exercise?
Remember the Ewood Park side signed up Robbie Fowler on a pay as you play contract last season and then proceeded to 115 minutes of action in the entire season. In his pomp Vieri was an inspired battleaxe of a player who most brightly shone at Inter Milan but has of late become something of a journeyman footballer and if he were to sign a contract for the Lancashire outfit they would be the 15th club of his lengthy career.
Of late Vieri’s career has been blighted by issues relating to his weight and his ability to still perform at the highest level and this could prove a bridge too far for the Bologna born forward. Whilst Christian has achieved a great deal he has also had a fair amount of bad luck in his star studded career, incredibly he has accumulated Runners-up medals in just about every competition known to man.
